Everything from the beautiful glass palace we were seated in, to the lighting, service and food are excellent. I'm usually loathe to eat Indian food out of the house (my mom spoiled me growing up with delicious food) but I've got to say that this was the best Indian food I've eaten. The beautiful presentation really helped with everything, as well. (Sorry, Mom) Our waiter would be the highlight of our night, I think, had anything been less than sheer perfection: we had the best service we've ever had in the US at Musaafer. He made sure everything was dairy free (for me) and offered a lot of suggestions that were on point. Not to mention, he was so attentive. I don't think my water glass was less than half full once that night. I'll definitely have to celebrate again here soon. Or maybe just eat: I know I'm already craving it!

Good: - Interior decor seemed fitting. Although it was a bit dark inside. - Food was great. The lamb was seasoned too well in my opinion. - Service was good but I felt like the server was selling the menu rather than educating us on it. Bad: - Some of the basic items are overpriced. I had a guest straight from Mumbai and he told me that a lot of the dishes were just a fancy version of street food. Overall: Worth a try but I'm not sure if I would come back.

Have you ever gone somewhere that you had really been looking forward to and were just completely amazed when you arrived? Since I met the chef several years ago and heard about the journey and the vision as they were designing and building the space, I knew that I wanted to experience the spices, the stories, the secrets. A last minute visit from our daughter gave us the perfect opportunity for lunch during Houston Restaurant Weeks before she headed back to school. Definitely call to make a reservation. The Houston Restaurant Weeks lunch menu offered a two course menu with an appetizer and an entree for $25. A three course dinner is also available for $55. Both are on extended HRW until September 30. Loved the Lychee Ceviche. Cured lychee in a coconut sauce with a homemade tooti frooti. So fresh. So fragrant. So delicious. The chicken seekh kebab with a mint chutney was also tasty. The Malwani Fish Curry was a delicious, spicy cod. The Butter Chicken was so creamy. Definitely add some garlic naan to pair with these. So lucky that they were able to accommodate our extended family of granddad, aunts, uncles and first and second cousins who surprised us for an impromptu extended family reunion with four generations. Thank you to Greg for seamlessly accommodating our extended party that grew from three at the beautiful Traveler's Table. It was definitely a very memorable event. We didn't have dessert as we needed to get our daughter to the airport, but the manager noticed us as we admired the dining rooms and offered my husband, my daughter and me a private art tour after our meal. Wow!! This was better than dessert (and one of the main reasons that I wanted to bring my daughter here for lunch.) Love how Khadijah Khalil gave us the VIP treatment as we toured each dining space. The Shadow Room which is magically lit up with the most beautiful patterns inspired by a bride's intricate henna designs. The oversized statute of Musaafer a traveling shepherd. The tiffins and gilded cookware that line the open pastry kitchen near the Traveler's Table, which is made from one cut from a tree with natural edges. The room inspired by the Udaipur Palace is stunning. The photography is at a perfect golden sunset. The Patio has daybeds and lace curtains reminiscent of a time when one would take a midday nap. The intricate tile work and hand carved doors in the Sheesh Mahal Royal Palace inspired dining room. Over 220,000 mirrored tiles were used to make the stunning room. The Aangan courtyard with its stunning arches welcoming guests to the center of the home. The hallway lined with teak arches and sconces reminiscent of a market. From tables to chairs to lighting, each space is so unique and so inviting. Would definitely bring back the rest of the family or friends to enjoy another magical afternoon or evening at Musaafer. A special thanks to Greg and Khadijah for welcoming our family into their "home." We really were gifted the Royal Treatment.

Why would I rate this place as five stars if I didn't absolutely love it and am not planning on going back? Read on to find out. I should preface this by saying that I'm not planning on going back to Musaafar on date night with my husband, but if someone was coming from out of town, I could see this being a good option to bring family and friends. Huge plus for being halal! The sign outside of the building is huge, it's right next to Nobu and you can access the Galleria mall from the entrance. It's prime real estate so I can understand why their prices are the way they are. Location is everything and the location here is expensive. The interior is beautiful, there are multiple different areas each with their own vibe. We were given a couple of options, but because we had our child with us, we decided on going for a booth in the mirror room that has hundreds of little mirrors and designs all along the walls. This reflects light, but also sound, and it was surprising quite loud on a random Wednesday afternoon. We got the coconut drink to start off with, with has pieces of dry coconut on top of a ceramic coconut styled cup, and although it was good, it wasn't worth $15 for a juice that tasted like coconut and fruit with no alcohol. The lychee appetizer was really good, it was my favorite item. I really enjoyed it because it was almost like a fruity chaat, and had a nice mix of textures with juicy fruit and crunchy pieces as well. The palak paneer and butter chicken, usually what I would consider safe choices, had great presentation, but the paneer was one big piece, and the palak was just okay. The butter chicken was fine, but I've had better at other restaurants not much farther away from Musasfar. The naan and paratha were both charred and tasted burned to us but I didn't complain because they were so busy and I didn't want to wait to get new naan to eat the food. The manager, who seated us and helped us as well, I believe his name was Julio, was great and very welcoming, and explained everything to us nicely. Overall, I'm glad we have a fine dining experience with a South Asian flare because we definitely need it, so this place is beautiful and had great customer service, but I wouldn't consider it authentic if that's what you're after.

Outstanding. We've never had anything but great food, great service and great times at this place. Upscale, but not pretentious and a real experience in Indian food. Not your average butter chicken and dal kind of place. Loved it!

After putting off trying Musaafer for awhile now, Houston Restaurant Weeks was the perfect reason to finally try it out. I wasn't purposefully avoiding it, but I wasn't ready to drop $200+ on lunch. I can confidently say now though, that it's worth it! Walking in, the restaurant is beautiful. There are so many ornate details and literal works of art. Located inside the galleria, I didn't realize how big this restaurant actually was until you're inside. Coming here as a party of 3, we opted to try 1 of each of the HRW lunch options. Overall, everything at Musaafer was phenomenal. Our favorites though were the lychee ceviche, traditional butter chicken, and mango dolly. Getting the garlic naan, basmati rice, and dal makhni bowl for sides are a must as well to soak up the rich curries. I will be looking forward to seeing Musaafer hopefully earn a Michelin star by the end of the year in Houston. I'll be back again for sure!

The Masala Papad with ahi tuna is one of the best dishes I've ever had. I would come here repeatedly just for that dish alone. Every flavor is so well-balanced that nothing falls short of perfection. There is nothing that I can criticize this dish for. But the same can't be said for the Paneer Rizala. While the sauce was flavorful and the rose petals added a nice perfumey taste that I enjoyed, the dish just feels incomplete. It needed naan/rice to be served alongside with it; I had ordered some naan, but it didn't feel like enough for the amount of liquid in this dish. It's as if I was served curry without the rice.
